Vanderburgh County Republicans will join together for the annual Lincoln Day Dinner on the evening of Wednesday, May 14th. Named in honor of Abraham Lincoln, the United States’ first Republican president, the event will be held at the Centre in downtown Evansville.
Gov. Mitch Daniels will provide this year's keynote address. Gov. Daniels was elected on November 2, 2004, and sworn into office on January 10, 2005. The Governor will share his story of how, through hard work and political courage, he has lead Indiana's comeback to spur economic growth, create jobs, improve our education system, and reduce Hoosiers' tax burden. His work has included solving the $600 million budget deficit, repaying $316 million to schools across the state, and helping Indiana to become the only state with a fully funded ten year highway plan.
"It is no secret that this is a very important election year, both locally and nationally," said Chairman Nicholas Hermann. "Gov. Daniels' participation in Lincoln Day will help us kick off the 2008 campaign and mobilize our efforts."
Dress is informal (cocktail or business attire). Information on tickets is available from the Vanderburgh County Republican Party by calling 812-425-8207 or by contacting members of the central committee.
